Hannah Jane Boissonneault is a composer-performer currently based in East Lansing, Michigan. Through her work as a composer, electric bassist and vocalist of the progressive alternative band Blank Slate, and the recent launch of her multi-genre project Feels Like Honey, Hannah strives to create music that interacts with the different textures and sound worlds of her personal experiences. Incorporating her experience in writing and performing progressive metal, rock, indie, folk, and jazz, she seeks to interconnect various musical communities through her compositions.
She is an alumna of Unheard of Ensemble's 2020 Collaborative Initiative (Stony Brook, NY), the 2019 Atlantic Music Festival (Waterville, ME) and the 2019 Fresh Inc. Festival (Kenosha, WI). She has participated in reading sessions with Roomful of Teeth (2020) and members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (2018).
Hannah recently completed her Bachelor of Music in Composition at Michigan State University (2020), where her primary mentors were David Biedenbender, Zhou Tian (composition), and Rodney Whitaker (jazz bass). This fall, she is looking forward to moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she will be beginning her Master of Music in Composition at University of Michigan.
